The two women, Kim and Kathy, who made Girl's Getaway Weekend so wonderful.  They also have a big heart for helping others in need and the weekend helped raise money for a local charity called Caring and Sharing and also many groceries were given as well.  So it was not just a weekend of "getting to do fun things", but also giving to others as well!

Girl's Getaway Wonder-Ful Weekend ( Part Deux!)

More frolicky fun stuff about the girl's weekend.  On Saturday morning, Mom and I enjoyed eating at this wonderful French cafe called Fabrice. It's located in Watercolor, so if you are ever in 30-A... check out this little cafe!  It is authentic French and the owner is from Paris!

I have always loved this painting....... the colors, the free spirit-ness, the Frenchie way of life..... flowers and pastries and tiny cars.

And yes, pretty pink and yellow macaroons and more French sweets!

We had delicious omelets and authentic French toast! yum!

So from our fun breakfast in Watercolor, we headed back to the magical land of Rosemary.  We spent lots of our time in this building in Rosemary. It's called the town hall and I have grown to really love this building and now wishing we had more little town halls that functioned like this one.  It has lots of open space and windows and sunlight and the best part about it was the way it can be transformed for different events. For our weekend, it was lit with twinkle lights on Thursday night and had a warm glow with the singer/songwriters from Nashville.  Loved listening to them... they were amazing! And on Friday morning it was filled with the buzz and sunlight of creating and painting.  Friday night was candle light and time to just hang out, eat good food and enjoy great wine. Saturday, this town hall turned into a place to watch a kitchen demo and was led by a very talented chef who mixed French cooking with southern flair.  And then Sunday morning, it was again transformed into a warm meeting place for breakfast and saying goodbyes and a "see you next time".

I loved how this sweet and beautiful building was created and built for the purpose of community.  It even has church service on Sunday morning.  Love the way this little town gets together and supports the community, it's people and the needs around them.

And two women who are part of this Rosemary community and who made this entire girly weekend come together were Kathy and Kim. Kim is from the green rolling hills of Tennessee and Kathy lives in this fairyland area. They both made the magic happen and created an environment that was relaxed, creative, and full of  pure fun. Thank you Kathy and Kim for all your hard work and for a great weekend!

Rosemary Beach....

I am falling in love with this part of the beach more and more.  I remember the days in the early 90's when I would walk through scrub bushes and down little dirt roads so I could get to this enchanted, secret beach. Before Rosemary was created, I called this beach my Anne of Green Gables beach.  It was so pristine and pure... white sand, blue sky and crystal blue water.  In my mind... it was everything a beach was meant to be....

perfect

pristine

peaceful.

Now the landscape has changed and a town has been created that truly adds to the natural beauty of this blue and white beach instead of taking away from it.  And my "Anne" beach became "Rosemary Beach".

And I still love it.

And believe it really is a kind of secret place and hope it continues to be a secret for a little while longer.

Girl's Getaway Wonder-ful Weekend! ( Part I)

Girl's Getaway Weekend in Rosemary Beach....  was absolutely wonderful!!!!  Just looking at the pic above makes me so happy!  When you gather a bunch of women together and paint... there is something so special that happens that makes my heart sing.... creating, painting, making, taking a risk, laughing, and then being so happy with one's finished masterpiece...it's something every woman should try!

I'm probably getting ahead of myself because you may be wondering,"What is girl's getaway weekend???" It was this past weekend in Rosemary Beach, Florida and filled with laughter, song, creating, learning, eating, drinking, more laughing, riding bikes, being in the sun and most of all... community and meeting new wonderful women!
So, for me... it was a big treat because they asked me to be the artist girl for the weekend and I taught a lesson on Friday morning to 27 women!
Here was a little glimpse into the weekend:
Thursday night: Singer/Songwriter round
Friday: Art lesson in morning.  Reception/fun time in the evening
Saturday: Cooking lesson by Virginia Willis
Saturday night: Dinner and comedian Leanne Morgan
Sunday: breakfast, pack up and head home.

To watch these women paint was a highlight for me.  I absolutely love to help others see how much fun it is to create. Some of the women had never painted before and carried home beautiful art work by the end of the morning!

And in this town hall of Rosemary.... filled with colorful paint, happy chatter, sparkly mimosas, twinkle lights and knowing the blue ocean is just down the cobbled stone path.... gave an excitement, energy, and joy that warmed the entire room. It's almost like a song flowing but in reds and oranges, pinks, greens, yellows and blues.

Celia ( above) is a super talented artist and I loved watching her create her flowers and fun muffins!  Am looking forward to watching her paint some portraits this summer at Rosemary... so fun to have another kindred spirit red head friend!

And this artist was making and painting a beautiful dress.  She wrote a verse around the dress and was excited about taking the painting home to give to her daughter..... just loved that!

Another artist in action! Beautiful flowers... love the colors!

Kind of blurry... but you can almost feel the buzz of painting and creating.

Love this ....  A family reunion of 3 generations (pic shown above) They traveled to Rosemary from California, New York and southern Florida for the Girl's Getaway Weekend! All the women were so sweet and kind....it makes me smile to think of  their time together and they painted such beautiful paintings!

The most special part of the weekend was being with my mom! We had a great time together and I couldn't have done this weekend without her.  Some of the women called her my "marketing director". Mom is the best! We celebrated her birthday on Thursday and had fun listening to the singer/songwriters that evening and going out for dinner in Seaside. Mom helped me with the entire weekend... with the art morning... setting up the breakfast, encouraging the artists,  making mimosas, organizing, making coffee, taking pics, packing up and being my greatest encouragement!  We rode bikes together, had brunch at the French restaurant, walked on the beach, and just enjoyed hanging out.  My mom is one of my dearest friends. Thank you mom! You made the weekend so much fun!

There is much more to write... but I will save that for Tuesday.  Happy start to February.....may it be a bright and beautiful month!
