Hummingbird Delight Print

During a sunshine filled afternoon several years ago, I sat on a lake dock and wrote in my journal.

And along with writing, I was also answering questions from a workbook. One of the workbook questions asked, "What animal reminds you of the word, delight?" 🌸⠀⠀

I immediately wrote my dog's name, Scout. But I also wrote "hummingbird," because I loved watching hummingbirds in our yard all summer. 

To me, they symbolize pure delight! And I was thinking and writing about how God delights in us! 💕⠀

And then something very special happened! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As I looked up from answering that question, a hummingbird appeared out of nowhere!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It not only appeared but it flew a complete circle around me and then flew away. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I sat there in disbelief... I couldn't believe a hummingbird came up right after I thought about the word, delight, and wrote "hummingbird." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I had tears in my eyes because I knew this was one of those very special moments where God was showing me His love. 💕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I was sitting at the end of the dock of a lake.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There were no hummingbirds around. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was fall. Summer was over.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .

I believe God sent that hummingbird to show me the power in the word delight and God’s delight over me. ❤️❤️❤️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

After praying and writing, God was showing me how He wanted me to look into what it means to delight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Do I see God's delight in me? Do I believe Zephaniah 3:17, “God will take great delight in me."? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do I delight in God?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do I feel God's smile?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

.....⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

After that special time, I feel in my heart, that sharing about God- delight is a deep part of my life.💕💕💕🍭❤️🎉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I want to delight more in my kids and marriage and life and work. And I want to live in God Delight! ⭐️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I want to carry this meaning of the delight of God everywhere!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
May our hearts know in deeper ways... how much God delights in us.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Oh how God loves us so!
